Implicit and explicit communication
A large company announces "Our employees are our most important asset!" But for the same company culture to communicate something entirely different. This is a top-down command and control all the way and staff, as good children should be seen, not heard.
In cases like these that we face to face communication with the odd couple: the explicit and implicit communication.
Explicit communication refers to the things we say or write, often the messages intended to influencethe behavior of others'. "Foul" and "not" count as examples of explicit communication. Leave as little space as possible for interpretation or ambiguity.
implicit communication, on the other hand, refers to things we do, individually or collectively, usually without regard to other communications. And 'corporate culture, or perhaps body language. It may also decide not to communicate with everyone.
Often take in these messages rather than send, But their power reduced. implicit communication can be just as powerful and effective communication explicit.
Because communication is often given, it will be very dependent on the recipient or observer of the message. Each person will be notified, probably his own interpretation, based on the background of the news. If you suspect the sender, for example, you may also have a sinister interpretation.
Here is a concrete example, astrikes close to home for me. I use a newsletter to promote my book, a manager's guide to the newsletter. Should be promoted explicitly or implicitly?
This number of explicit than implicit communication faces almost all publishers of the newsletter at any time. While a mixture of editorial and advertising to distinguish letters from other media, no clear line from the two.
And yes, we draw the line of themselves, trying to assess which players advancereacts in different ratios. The challenge is the same: too much of a promotional nature, and our verwilder readers, too little and readers react much as we would like.
Subject: explicit communication refers to specific information disclosed in written or spoken. Moreover, whereas the implicit message of freedom of speech "given away" by our actions and deeds. explicit communication is intentional, while the implicit communication may or may notintentional.
Applying this idea: We always need to be concerned about the consistency between our words and our actions. Remember that actions do speak as loudly as words, as the old axiom tells us. Newsletter publishers should be especially sensitive to this issue as they determine how explicit they will be in asking for reader responses.
